Little

A little is a person who adopts a younger, more vulnerable headspace within a caregiver-based BDSM dynamic. The term applies regardless of gender. Littles are the regressive partner in dynamics like DDlg, MDlb, MDlg, and other caregiver configurations. Their counterpart goes by Daddy, Mommy, or another nurturing title depending on the specific dynamic.

Being a little is rooted in headspace, not costume. While some littles enjoy outward expressions like pacifiers, stuffed animals, coloring books, or onesies, the core of the identity is internal. It is about accessing a mental state where adult pressures recede and a more open, dependent, playful self comes forward. Some littles describe it as feeling lighter. Others say it is the only time they feel safe enough to be fully vulnerable.

Regression depth varies widely. Some littles settle into a toddler-like headspace with baby talk and simple comforts. Others present as older children, interested in cartoons, building blocks, or games. Still others experience a more subtle shift, becoming softer and more emotionally open without a specific age association. All versions are valid.

The relationship between a little and their caregiver is built on trust and structure. The caregiver provides safety, rules, and nurturing attention. The little offers vulnerability and obedience within the negotiated boundaries. This exchange works because both sides consent to it clearly and can renegotiate or withdraw at any time.

Entering the regressive headspace is called little space, and it can be triggered by specific rituals, activities, or the caregiver's tone. Coming out of it requires care and patience, similar to aftercare following intense scenes.

Littles are always consenting adults. The BDSM community holds this boundary without exception. For more on how these dynamics are structured, see our age play guide.
